Walking in the Läckö-Kinnekulle
From 1045 SEK
One of the best ways to explore Läckö-Kinnekulle is by walking one of the lovely trails in the area. Several of the paths are new, so even if you’ve been here before there’s plenty more to discover.
Skaraborg has been called the cradle of Sweden, and the evidence of that long history can be seen, amongst other things, in the medieval churches and abbeys found here. A good way to combine nature and culture is to follow one of the Pilgrim’s Trails. You can walk all the way from Läckö Castle to Forshem if you want to.
An excellent starting place is the Kinnekulle Observation Tower, where several different paths converge. The tower is on the top of the plateau, and on a clear day you can see up to 50 kilometres away, so you can appreciate the magnificent view as well as get a fascinating overall impression of the area.
Walking in Läckö-Kinnekulle also takes you back into the past. Several of the trails pass some interesting historic monuments, including ones from the middle ages, and when Sweden converted to Christianity. That part of our history is of course more visible on the Pilgrim’s Trails, which are meant to feed both body and soul. Choose to walk a few hours – or several days.
